Hey guys! It’s been a while but I’m back , hopefully in full swing this time. Blogging can get really hard and frustrating at times when you have no idea what new content to produce but anyways…
It’s that time of the year again where most students feel the need to get a new campus wardrobe but majority of us are living the broke life 😂. It’s okay I know how it feels! That’s why I thought I’d share a few tips on how to shop for clothes if you have a budget.
This time of the year is my favorite because there are literally sales everywhere (yaaaay🎉). Just because you see something is on sale you tend to want it because “oh it’s so cheap!” . No no girl , stop right there. Try to avoid buying something just because it’s cheap because chances are , you might actually not wear the clothing item or accessory. Sometimes we get excited because of how low the price is but you could rather save that money for something better.
I highly suggest planning what you need before going to the mall just to avoid impulsive buying. I should talk last 😂 I went to the mall yesterday with the intention of buying ONLY a shoe but I came home with clothing and accessories! It was all really good deals though I swear 😇.
I find this highly important- buy clothing that is easy to mix and match with other clothing items therefore you aren’t limited to only creating one or two outfits.
Instead of buying like 3 shirts that’s on sale that are not mixable with other clothing pieces rather invest your money on one shirt that can be worn in several different ways.
Another thing , if you don’t feel good in something you trying on then DONT buy it because it’ll just sit at the back of your closet. Even if you take a bit tooo long in the fitting room it’s better to be sure of what you are purchasing. Buy things that you feel comfortable in and that fits well.
Buy clothing that you can wear all year round. By this I mean , you can still buy a short dress and wear it in winter by just pairing it with boots and leggings. If you want to keep up with seasonal trends then this isn’t for you because fashion changes all the time.
If you want to shop at high end stores then I suggest buying things only when they are on sale. Also make sure that what you are buying is actually worth your money. Don’t buy a clothing item simply for the brand name. For example, a store sells a simple white shirt which costs about 500 bucks. It’s totally ridiculous because you can get a white shirt anywhere else for so much less! If you knew how much it costed to manufacture a simple shirt then you’d definitely not buy it.
Being in the fashion industry helped me realize so many things while I go shopping. I analyze every single detail of a clothing item before I purchase it whereas before , I wouldn’t give a damn about a single thread on the garment. Okay I’m actually going off topic now 😂 so that’s where I’ll leave it at.
